Large, outlying spruce forest in Monongahela National Forest on the north-facing slope of Pharis Knob.;Linear sloping forest seep in formerly logged/ grazed spruce forest, which has been left undisturbed for perhaps 50+ years. Old "wolf trees" of yellow birch, basswood and spruce are nearby. Red spruce and yellow birch overhang the seep but are not rooted in it. Seep is about 5 m wide.
Representativeness
This seep has flowing water and a fairly steep slope, and is a good example of a "typical" Carex scarbrata seep.
